A rise in the standings
Now that we are at the point where games are worth more and more, people will start to rise and fall more drastically. The rise of the day: Tj Morrison. TJ jumped from 5th to 2nd today. Who knows if he can keep it up tomorrow. I don't really have much more to say other than I'm very disappointed in VCU. Here are the scores.

Day 2: Major Upsets
Today was crazy. There is no way around that. I believe I read that there were four-six 2-15 upsets in the last 10-20 years (I know, it's a wide range. I just don't want to lie). And today we had two of them. A lot of brackets were screwed up long term. Sure, it only cost you a couple of points today, but it will haunt you in the later rounds.
People like Tommy...better luck next year. 3 of his final 4 have been eliminated and his 4th (Syracuse) looks like they could be on the way out soon. But maybe you were like Chad and had Missouri only winning game. Sure, Chad may be out a point this round (like everyone else) but long term, it will pay off huge for Chad. So we will have to see what happens.
Games are worth two points starting tomorrow, so catching up will be easier. Hopefully those who didn't pick the first four doesn't take 2nd place and lose by 1 to someone who picked the first four semi-successfully. Anyways, here are the new scores.
Congrats to TJ and Jordan who are tied for the best opening round. And after this post I will start hiding blank cells so we can see the full table easier. And just so you don't think I'm cheating because I have the lead, I will post the entire work book in this entire line. Now you can compare your bracket to others and see how you're doing. As a side note, anything that is blacked out is like Duke or Missouri. If we picked a team that didn't go on, I blacked it out so we could see how our bracket looks. And don't worry, on the off chance I blacked out the wrong team, it wont change the formula for the scores. If you see anything that looks off, let me know and I can correct it, but considering I have a version on my laptop, you can't try and pull a fast one on me. Good luck tomorrow.

Day one of the real 1st round
Well here we go again. Kyle is in first place. Someone stop him! Once he took the lead last year, he never gave it up. If you have any questions about your score, let me know. You should all have my number. If you didn't get your bracket in on time for the first 4, I took those points off. I also want to thank Nick and the McArthurs for best following the bracket saving instructions. Anyways, here are the scores.
It doesn't mean much right now, but there you go. Feel free to talk smack.

Get your Free Bracket here!
Free excel march madness bracket 2012

excel bracket 2012
march madness 2012
download bracket 2012
Ok, sorry about all that, but I put that stuff so I could hopefully lure anyone who googles those topics to this page. If you got here through google, please stay here and join our free march madness 2012 pool. If you came here via facebook, you meant to be here, so welcome. Let's go over some rules and format to this pool.
1- Click the link below to get access to the excel file. It's on my dropbox, so you'll have to save the file to your computer to access it. When you save, please save your name in the file. Like if your name is TJ Morrison, save the file as TJMorrison or TJMorrisonbracket, or anything like that (you're welcome for the shout out TJ) and please change the tab name at the bottom of the file to your name.
2- Fill it out using the drop down feature, starting from the earliest rounds and working your way up.
3- If you want to pick the first 4, you need to send your bracket in before those games start or if you want more time to work out your field of 64, you can forfeit the first of 4, or just send me an e-mail/text/facebook message with those picks. Send in your bracket as soon as you can. Any games that have already begun before you submit your bracket will be forfeit (unless you sent me a previous message).

4- Scoring is done 1 pt for round 1, 2, for 2, etc. You can see how many points you can get for each correct pick in that round in row 2 of the excel file. This one you might just have to see to understand. I have excel set up to keep track of the points for us. We tested it and used it last year, and it worked great. It's been updated and tested for this year and should continue to be fine.
5- Standings will be updated nightly on this blog. I'll post via facebook, but it wouldn't hurt to bookmark or follow this blog (this is a shameless way for me to get more readers and more views on my blog, but I'm ok with that).

6- CLICK HERE, have fun, and share with as many friends as possible. The more people in the pool, the more competitive it will be. E-mail me your bracket at sky2k1@hotmail.com
7- Someone please beat Kyle Pierce. He won it all last year, and I don't want to see him repeat (or anyone for that matter, it just happens to be Kyle this year).

March Madness
So in a few days brackets will be released for NCAA March Madness and I will make a bracket that you can fill out and send back to me like last year. Scoring will be the same, but we will include the first 4 from the beginning (each worth 1 point), but you can forfeit those 4 points if you would like more time on your bracket of 64. Just as a reminder, scoring is 1 pt for every team you get right in round 1, 2 pts. for round 2, 3 for 3, etc.
The changes this year:
1- No money. I hate trying to collect it. We never collected it all from last year. So if someone wants to take charge in that department, feel free, but I wont do it this year.
2- The standings will be updated on this blog, not the other I made last year.
3- Instead of me e-mailing people the bracket, I will put the master in dropbox and post a link. This way anyone can join at anytime without my permission, the more the merrier. But more details about this when the time comes.
4- Using dropbox, I will try to make everyone's bracket public so you know there is no cheating, but where there is no money, it doesn't matter as much...but since I'm an honest guy, this should never have been a problem to begin with.
5- I am thinking we might allow multiple brackets...I'm not sure how I feel about that yet.
That is all, I'll be looking to post more in about a week.

Oops
So I'm pretty sure I said I'd get back to blog once we got back from the break. Well here I am, finally back from the break. Just two months after. So brief rundown from then until now. Christmas was fun back in DC. I wont go into too many details, but I enjoyed just about everything out there...the only thing I didn't enjoy was the national Christmas tree. It was pathetic. Also, I made the finals in two of my three fantasy football leagues and won the championship in one of them. I consider that a successful season overall.
Considering I failed my Accounting final, and got a B- in the class, my plans to major in accounting had to change (you had to get a B and I was like 2% off) plans. Right now that plan is information systems. Right now I'm in a computer programming class and I actually really like it. I just took my midterm for it and it might have been the most enjoyable midterm I have taken. It would have been better had it been on computer and not on paper, but that's not the point.
That's most of the need to know stuff I've had go on in the last two months. For some fun side notes...I've been to 3 Jazz games this year (5 in my life) and all have been enjoyable. We are still looking for a car, I still love my iPhone, and our cat still bites us. I read the Hunger Games, and I'm excited to see the movie (and plenty of other movies I might add). I'm sad football is over, but excited that March Madness will be here soon.
I'll try and get back to blogging again, at least enough to finish the mission stuff I started. Until then, peace out.
